Well sites and other remote operating areas often have valves that need to fail-closed on loss of power. While mechanical fail-safe options for electric actuators are available today, there are some applications where multi-turn electric actuators are more economical.

An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) solution can provide battery power to an electric actuator – essentially turning a fail-last actuator into an electric fail-safe one.

Spartan’s Valve UPS solution provides a robust, cost-competitive method of powering electric actuators with 24VDC motors.  Our solution is housed in a NEMA 4X enclosure, is rated to -40C, and provides up to 13 amp-hours of battery capacity.  During normal operation, the solution enables the charging of the enclosed UPS battery system – ensuring that full power capacity will be available when called upon.”
