Synopsis:

The course modules combine FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus theory with hands-on exercises that require the student to design, assemble and commission FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus devices using DeltaV DCS, 375 handheld communicator and NI configurator.

Objectives:

Upon completion of the course, the student will understand the fundamentals of FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus, the role of function blocks, addressing, modes and status. You will learn ways to modify current engineering and troubleshoot installations using FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus.

Who Should Attend?

This 2-day course is designed for individuals responsible for evaluating or interfacing the current Foundation fieldbus technology for process systems.

  • Fundamentals of the FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus Specifications
  • Project Engineering Practices Using FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus
  • Comparison of Conventional 4-20 mA DCS Technology to FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus
  • Design of H1 Fieldbus Segments
  • Use of the DeltaV, NI Configurator & 375 Handheld Communicator to Configure and Troubleshoot FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus Control Loops

Prerequisites:

Background in instrumentation and electrical disciplines, control or project engineering and design.
