CALGARY, ALBERTA: (Mar 10, 2005) – Protego (USA) Inc., headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, and Spartan Controls of Calgary, Alberta Canada have reached an agreement for Spartan to represent the Protego family of Conservation Vents, Emergency Vents & Flame Arrester Products in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut.

Protego offers a complete line of fixed roof vent products. With Protego's advanced "10% overpressure to full open" technology, users can expect significant vapor conservation improvement and emission reduction, compared with traditional vent products. Protego's unique seat technology provides superior seal tightness compared to industry standards, with leakage rates as low as 1/50th of the accepted industry standard, API 2521. "Western Canada represents a tremendous opportunity for Protego's advanced technology vent products and we feel that we have the right partner, in Spartan Controls, to realize that opportunity" said Michael Davies – President, Protego (USA).

Protego's comprehensive line of flame arresters include end of line deflagration arresters (short term burning & endurance burning), inline deflagration arresters, inline detonation arresters and volume deflagration arresters meaning Protego has the right product for your application. The unique filter element design reduces pressure drop, increases flow and reduces the size of element required.

Protego's easily replaceable filter elements mean easy, low cost maintenance. The company is the only manufacturer that possesses an independent 3rd party (PTB) approval on an inline deflagration arrester.

Protego is proud of their engineering expertise, which they employ in performing plant audits, trouble shooting, solving difficult applications and developing special products. Protego supports their engineering activities with the largest privately owned flow laboratory in the world. "Protego's knowledgeable/experienced people, technology leadership and product excellence make them the perfect addition to our overpressure protection product offering", said Scott Foster – Manager of Farris Pressure Management, division of Spartan Controls.

The new relationship provides customers with a local, single-source supplier for overpressure protection products and services based on the companies' combined expertise in overpressure protection system design, product sizing, selection and troubleshooting to ensure cost effective solutions and compliance to industry codes and standards.
