Spartan Controls continue to provide Keyano College with equipment and technical assistance for the power and process programs at Keyano College.  Their commitment to life long learning is shown through their donation of a DeltaV control system and Foundation Fieldbus (FF) field devices for Keyano's process lab. In addition, Spartan Controls is providing the expertise of a Project Manager to direct the installation and oversee the project through to completion. The DeltaV control system and (FF) field devices are leading edge technology and will greatly enhance the curriculum for the Process Operator Program and will help us develop an Instrumentation Technician Course.  Together the proposed curriculum, the use of the DeltaV control system, and the (FF) Field devices will make graduating students at Keyano College highly marketable as they obtain specialized and high demand skills. This leading edge technology and training will enable the students to provide immediate value to any prospective employer.

The DeltaV Control System is a scalable control system which is capable of expanding and adapting for future growth such as the upcoming boiler lab at Keyano College. This foresight and advice was provided by Spartan Controls early in the planning stages of the existing process lab and will provide leading edge training in the boiler lab for students wishing to pursue a career in this field. Currently over 50% of both the bitumen produced and the synthetic crude upgraded is or will be controlled by PlantWeb, DeltaV, and Foundation Fieldbus (FF).

“We are proud of our relationship with Keyano College and the community in which we live and operate,” says Jon Kirsch, Territory Manager Spartan Controls. “We support our community through the many Spartan employees who volunteer and participate in community organizations and through Spartan Controls Ltd. financial contributions. We look to give more of a hand-up than just a hand-out.”
