STERLING Valve Automation is proud to be the exclusive Canadian distributor for Protective Concepts, Inc (PCI).  PCI has been designing and manufacturing flexible passive fire protection (PFP) jackets since 1986.

Their years of experience have taught them that the key elements of Fire Protection are:

  • Remain intact through lengthy exposure to the environment
  • Block flame paths and heat transfer
  • Easy to remove/reinstall for inspection and service
  • No tools or special training required
  • Repair or modify in the field

Protective Concepts pioneered the passive fire protection field.  They were the first to use straps, D-rings, and flaps with Velcro®.

Their patented, custom-designed, form-fitting ProCon 2000 fire protection jackets are light-weight, weather-resistant and durable.  Their jacket designs can survive repeated blasts and maintain their fire protection integrity.  No wire, banding straps, or special tools are required.  Everything needed for installation and removal is part of the jacket.

No other fire protection system is as easy to remove and reinstall as ProCon 2000 jackets.  This easy removal and reinstallation makes it ideal when servicing your equipment.  There is no lengthy downtime required to coat a replacement part for your equipment.  Just replace the part, reinstall the jacket and you are up and running!

Being a “passive” fire protection device, the jacket does not require any reaction to heat, (the very thing you want protection from), to work.  Even after the fire has been extinguished, the ProCon 2000 jacket keeps working, protecting your equipment in the case of a recurring fire, until it can be replaced.

Protective Concepts developed the design practices, heat flow calculations, and manufacturing methods to achieve fire protection results of thickness and weight that no other fire protection provider can match.

The ProCon 2000 jacket is certified by the following agencies:

  • Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Certified
  • Lloyd's Register of Shipping Certified
  • American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Certified

Protective Concepts passed the "OTI-95634" (J-60) Jet Fire Test in 1998 with the witness of both Det Norske Veritas and Lloyd's Register of Shipping, substantiating their claim of negligible temperature rise for the first 15-20 minutes of a fire.

Protective Concepts has passed numerous hydrocarbon or "UL-1709" fire tests and was the first to pass a jet fire test in 1991.

Protective Concepts' fire protection jackets have been installed on numerous applications including:

  • Wellheads
  • Valves
  • Actuators
  • Riser Tensioners
  • Cable Trays
  • Bulkheads
  • Penetration Seals

Their years of experience and continuous improvements of the ProCon 2000 exclusive materials keep them at the forefront of the Passive Fire Protection field.
