Dear Valued Customer,

The purpose of this letter is to give you the best available information at this time, around the long-term supportability of the Microguard, Flexiguard, Scanner, and Hawk I compressor shutdown platforms. This will allow you to develop an informed strategy on upgrading your existing systems.

In late 2000, a letter was circulated to all Spartan Controls installed base customers advising Amot Controls would be phasing out the Microguard, Flexiguard and Scanner product lines. At this point in time, Spartan Controls continues to support all versions of the Microguard,  Flexiguard and Scanner product lines and will do so for the foreseeable future. However some of these systems have been supported for over 21 years and are reaching the end of their product life cycle.

Spartan Controls carries a limited inventory of “Hot Spare” devices serviced and repaired in Edmonton. The Hot Spare program provides you or your local service provider with systems to minimize downtime should a system failure occur. Through the Hot Spare program, Spartan performs board level repair and testing to Amot products exchanged by the Customer. These repaired units are then re-used in the Hot Spare program. Unfortunately the risks we deal with today are:

  • the inventory of hot spares is decreasing over time
  • greater risk exists that components used for repair could be discontinued (we may not be able to substitute the obsolete component from a different supplier because of CSA certification requirements of the boards)

If this were to occur, we would make our best effort to obtain any remaining components and, by purchasing systems from customers that are undergoing retrofits. We would also notify existing AMOT customers that the support of the product line would be approaching an end.

Spartan Controls will continue to support your installed base, however, as with any inactive products, we strongly recommend you establish a migration program to update your equipment.  Your Spartan or PIC sales contact can discuss numerous upgrade options available, specific to your needs.

If you have any additional concerns or questions regarding support, please call your nearest PIC office, Spartan sales contact or Lorne Tuck at 403-207-0744.
