Calgary, AB, March 10, 2015 – Spartan Controls Ltd. has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for excellence in business performance. The Best Managed awards for this year, officially announced this week in the National Post, recognize Canadian owned and managed companies for sustained growth, financial performance, management practices and the efforts of the entire company.

“Today’s market place is not just about financial performance; it is also about the investment in the people,” said Peter Brown, National Co-Leader of Canada’s Best Managed Companies Program and Senior Practice Partner, Deloitte. “Spartan Controls Ltd. invests in their team to build up a strong and stable company. Best Managed companies are home grown companies making smart investments to achieve above average returns.”

This is the 14th consecutive year that Spartan has been recognized as one of the Best Managed. Since winning its first award in 2001, Spartan has become an official member of Canada’s Best Managed Platinum Club, a recognition limited to companies who have been Best Managed companies for seven consecutive years or more.

Canada’s Best Managed Companies is one of the country’s leading business awards programs that recognize Canadian companies that have implemented world-class business practices and created value in innovative ways. Applicants are evaluated by an independent judging panel on how they address various business challenges, including new technologies, globalization, brand management, leadership, leveraging and developing core competencies, designing information systems, and hiring the right talent to facilitate growth.

”We continue to be honoured to receive recognition from such a highly regarded and competitive program,” said Mike Begin, President and CEO of Spartan Controls. “There is no room for complacency in any well managed business and this program’s criteria and the successes of those peer companies in it, help to challenge us to keep raising our performance with our customers, people, and business.”

Leadership attributes that have helped Spartan earn selection as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies include:

  • Differentiated customer service, experience and support
  • Best-in-class process control products and applications
  • Customer value creation and innovation
  • Best people, great place to work, do-what-it-takes energy
  • A winning culture of owners, leaders, and mentors

The awards are granted on four levels: 1) Best Managed winner (one of the new winners selected each year); 2) Requalified member (repeat winners retain the Best Managed designation for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review); 3) Gold Standard winner (After three consecutive years of maintaining their Best Managed status, these winners have demonstrated their commitment to the program and successfully reapplied for the designation. Companies may requalify for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review; 4) Platinum Club member (winners that have maintained Best Managed status for seven years or more).
