How do you measure your SAGD downhole pressure?

December 15, 2010

Spartech Manufacturing has been involved in the development and fabrication of numerous bubbler panel solutions for the heavy oil SAGD industry.

By measuring the pressure at the surface, downhole pressure can be easily calculated. The Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) Bubbler Panel solution allows for all sensors/transmitters to be kept at the surface, making it easier to maintain and operate while improving reliability.

Allowing for a minimal flow of either fuel gas or nitrogen into the well bore, the surface pressure can be captured on a gauge or indicator at site, or through a DCS system. This figure can then be utilized to determine the relevant downhole pressure.

Control parameters such as flow, differential pressure, and temperature should be considered to obtain complete accuracy. Some typical bubbler panels can be seen in the pictures.
