REM Technology Inc. Signs with Blue Source Canada Blue Source logo

Calgary, AB (November 16, 2009) – REM Technology Inc. (RTI) has signed an agreement with Blue Source Canada ULC (Blue Source), providing customers with the ability to document reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. This will enable them to participate in existing and emerging regulatory and voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction programs across North America.

RTI owns REMVue® and SlipStream® technologies, which are used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from natural gas compression facilities and improve efficiency of reciprocating engines. These technologies also capture fugitive and vented emissions from such facilities for use as a supplementary fuel source.

This agreement will enable current and future customers to take advantage of the carbon reductions REMVue and SlipStream generate. Through the recently approved Engine Fuel Management and Vent Gas Capture protocol, verified carbon reductions associated with implementing REMVue and SlipStream® technologies may be applied under Alberta’s Offset System, a compliance mechanism under the province’s Climate Change & Emissions Management Act.

RTI, Blue Source, and Power Ignition and Controls (a division of Spartan Controls) plan a combined services approach offering these key elements:

  1. Data collection and quality assurance
  2. Documentation and verification of greenhouse gas emission reductions
  3. Registration of emission reductions under applicable GHG tracking systems (ie: Alberta’s Emissions Offset Registry)
  4. Marketing of aggregated emissions reductions to buyers across North America

The teaming of RTI and Blue Source will ensure customers are supported with significant technical and market expertise to overcome any marketplace challenges while creating a path to the carbon market. This newly formed relationship will provide compression intensive customers a tangible way to improve efficiency, reduce their carbon footprint, and positively affect the bottom line with the ability to physically track gas efficiency gains and greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
