Slurry Flow Control

Oil Sands Extraction facilities face some of the most physically demanding process conditions in the resource sector.  Challenges exist today throughout the Extraction process flow including converting bitumen ore to slurry in -40C conditions, maximizing bitumen recovery in the Primary Extraction and Froth Treatment processes, and minimizing bitumen losses to tailings ponds.

Fisher's V150S Ceramic Control Valve was created specifically to handle the abrasive and erosive nature of oil sands and mining slurry flow.  The V150S utilizes reverse flow design to direct flow away from the valve body while protecting the downstream piping from the highest flow velocity. In comparison to gate valves and other rotary valves, the V150S, has on average achieved a 4x increase in valve lifespan. In addition, the valve maintains predictable control characteristics throughout the wear cycle allowing for consistent process control and operations.
