Compaction in mining utilizes the feeding of fine product between two rollers which subject products to extreme pressures. This material is then broken up into granular sizes and can be dissolved in a hot brine solution to release small amounts of impurities. Equipment in these circuits contains rolling element bearings and large gearboxes which are susceptible to failure.
