The inaugural Industrial Health and Safety Conference and Exposition, held in conjunction with the Fort McMurray Chapter of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, is presented as part of North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH), celebrated by safety and health associations across North America.  This one-day workshop and two-day conference and exposition focuses on an industry at the forefront of employee safety - the Oil Sands.

The health and safety of workers is one of the most important aspects of industry today.  Injuries and illness cost the petroleum industry millions of dollars per year - at considerable cost to the employees, companies and government.  The event brings together experts from operating companies, service providers, government agencies, consultants and associations to discuss the issues of training, education, safety standards, and equipment innovations.
