History
Spartan Controls was formed in 1963, with offices in Edmonton, Calgary, and Regina. In 1982, in order to respond to the unique demands of Saskatchewan industry, the Regina office became autonomous under the name Septre Controls.
The name "Spartan" was selected as a reflection of the Spartans of ancient Greece - noted for their efficiency, competitiveness, and organization abilities. They were lean, keen winners. Additionally, the adjective "Spartan" implies no frills.
Spartan Controls was founded on the following principals which continue to be fundamental today:
- A large local inventory of control equipment and parts
- Customer service representatives with technical backgrounds and industry-specific knowledge
- Product training/technical support for customers
- Fast response to service requests
- An employee profit sharing plan
- Company ownership by employees
- A proper attitude - "Our customers deserve the best"
