Technical Sales Specialist - Power Ignition and Controls (Edmonton)

Description
We are currently recruiting internally and externally for a Technical Sales Specialist for the Power Ignition and Controls (“PIC”) Business Unit. This outside sales position is based out of Edmonton, Alberta and will report to the PIC Sales Manager.
Role and Responsibilities
- Focus will be on increasing business volume for PIC
- Continuously work with customers and appropriate PIC Principals to ensure understanding of available services, opportunities and services strategies
- Provide 1st call technical telephone support for Electronic Industrial Engine Ignition systems and Control Panels for rotating equipment
- Provide necessary technical and sales support to the Account and Territory sales team within Spartan
- Engage with all aspects of PIC Principals’ services delivery, to ensure customer satisfaction and continued preference. This includes preparation and delivery of formal presentations to Customers, as required
- Create awareness, understanding and preference for PIC Principals’ services to increase success of PIC, as measured by the Spartan business unit’s Business Plan
- Continuously work with PIC Sales and Customers to understand their needs and preferences for relevant services. Formulate, communicate and implement plans for PIC success to meet these opportunities, in conjunction with PIC Sales and Services management
- Preparation of timely documentation/reports on sales activities to Manager
- Vacation/absence coverage for Inside Sales representatives
Qualifications and Skills
- Engineering degree preferred, plus 2 – 5 years sales experience
- Knowledge of light industrial, diesel and pulp & paper industries/markets would be an asset
- Strong product and application understanding
- Proven customer service skills
- Solid negotiation, deal making, selling and presentation skills
- Effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Highly motivated, innovative and self-starter
- Flexibility to relocate would be an asset
- Team player with ability to work independently
- Entrepreneurial work ethic
- Valid drivers license, as travel will be required
The training provided for this opportunity will consist of extensive formal training, on site mentoring, and partnering with other Control Systems Specialists. The selected candidate must have a valid driver’s license in good standing, and be willing to travel frequently.
