Technology Engineer - RTI (Calgary)

REM Technology Inc. (“RTI”) is seeking an energized individual to join its development team in Calgary. The successful candidate will require grounding in engineering fundamentals and an aptitude for thermofluid sciences. Under supervision of the Senior Technology Engineer, you will assist the RTI team in the design, development and testing of new and existing engine control technology as well as manage a wide range of assigned tasks and small projects with minimal supervision. Travel throughout Western Canada and the United States will be necessary from time to time to assist with the implementation of new systems in the field.
Role and Responsibilities
- Be an integral part of the development team responsible for the identification and evaluation of potential new engine and/or compressor control related technologies
- Perform project qualification based on engineering feasibility and potential leverage for future projects
- Work with customer and RTI development team to gather/understand specifications and scope of solution
- Develop project definition, goals, schematics and specification documents for development project
- Perform initial site visits as necessary to support proposal development
- Perform initial sizing and specification of project components
- Coordinate with project management, estimating, engineering and construction to develop respective sections of project proposal
- Participate in design reviews and post-job analysis for continuous improvement of proposals, solutions and tools used in their creation
- Assist with software related development and testing
- Organize site visits, perform test bench and field tests, and create test reports
- Provide technical support to our representatives and customers
- Research, specify and order system hardware
- Domestic and/or international travel will be required for the position
Qualifications and Skills
- Engineering Degree - must qualify for registration with APEGGA
- Experience with internal combustion engines, reciprocating compressors and/or industrial programming an asset
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs
- Ability to work successfully both in a team environment and perform tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and outside parties (customers, vendors, etc.), representing REM Technology in a positive and professional manner
- Technical problem solver, required to troubleshoot software as well as electrical and mechanical hardware
- Ability to interpret electro-mechanical drawings as well as use these drawings to assemble electrical and mechanical components for testing and prototyping
- Solid presentation and written communication skills (samples of technical writing required)
- Prompt and punctual with deadlines and work hours
- Self-directed, highly motivated and innovative — willing to go the extra mile and be flexible in terms of tasks, hours, etc.
- Detail oriented
- Valid passport and Class 5 driver’s license
