Project Engineering (DCS) - Automation Support Centre (Calgary)

Description
We have a Project Engineering position open in our Automation Support Centre, Calgary
Reporting to the Manager, Automation Support Centre, the successful candidate will work within a Project Team, applying their DCS knowledge and experience in configuration, system design, control design, application development, commissioning, system testing and start-up on new and existing integrated solutions based on the DeltaV Process Control Systems and Safety Instrumented Systems.
Role and Responsibilities
- Technical application and implementation of Emerson Process Management DeltaV Systems
- Work with customer’s process and electrical engineers to define functional requirements
- System Configuration:
- Configure control strategies, shutdown keys and Safety Instrumented Functions
- Program shutdown keys
- Interface with third party products (PLCs, HMIs, OPC Clients, Historians)
- Develop HMI graphics
- Internal verification
- Factory Hardware and Software Acceptance Testing with Customers
- Work with CAD department to design system and marshalling panels
- Provide technical support during system shutdown and start-up activities
- Plant Commissioning at Customer sites:
- Loop checks
- HMI checks
- Troubleshooting
- Documentation
- Site Acceptance Testing with Customers
- Provide technical applications/solutions to Customers and maintain awareness of their technical requirements
- Support existing DeltaV Customers with upgrades, migrations and system expansions
- Leverage DeltaV technologies to improve/optimize performance at Customer plants
- Participate on 7/24 phone support rotation (approx. 4 x 1-week rotations per year)
- Provide input into improvement of current engineering processes and practices
- Provide technical support for Sales Teams, as required
- Travel is expected
Qualifications and Skills
- B.Sc. in Electrical, Computer or Chemical Engineering (emphasis on Process Control an asset) or Instrumentation Technologist Diploma
- 5+ years of related process control system experience or 3+ years of safety systems experience
- Professional safety qualification such as Emerson Process Management BSE201 Safety Engineering, Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE) or Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP)
- Strong technical/computer background
- Exceptional communication skills and customer service practices
- Successfully manage multiple priorities and assignments
- Work independently and within team environment
- Willingness to travel; valid driver license required
- Entrepreneurial work ethic
