Application Engineering - Field Automation (Calgary)

We are recruiting for an Application Engineering (Inside Sales) role on our Field Automation Team, Calgary, reporting to the Manager, Systems & Field Automation.  In this role, your responsibilities would include the sizing and selection of equipment to meet customer specifications and requirements.  Excellent written and oral communication skills will allow you to create preference for your solutions through the presentation of technical proposals.  Your positive outgoing personality, combined with strong communication and relationship building skills, will allow you to work extensively with customers.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Interface with existing and new customers, typically via telephone support, to provide application  solutions
  • Support Automation Solutions Account Managers through all aspects of Field Automation sales pursuits
  • Work proactively with our product Principals
  • Troubleshoot control equipment and instrumentation challenges, or refer to appropriate internal expertise
  • Proactively communicate customer concerns or opportunities to Technical Sales team and Account Managers
  • Work within the team to deliver the business unit goals, objectives and improve operational effectiveness

Qualifications and Skills

  • Engineering degree or Technical Diploma with equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in related role
  • Technical background in field automation: SCADA - RTUs, Liquid and/or Gas Flow Computers, Radios and Host MMI Systems
  • Knowledge of installed products in our territory (ROC and/or competitive platforms)
  • Background or experience in Gas Well Production including;
    • Directive 17 Reporting standards
    • Optimization/Plunger-Lift (end-user or supplier)
  • Experience in application of Liquid Flow Computers including;
    • Pipeline measurement, batching, proving
    • API Standards
    • Net Oil Computers
    • Product loading and unloading applications
  • Proven customer service skills
  • High degree of initiative, motivation, discretion and confidentiality
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication practices
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic
